Total Shock Service with Cleaning and Oil Changing should be done Every 20 Hours of riding.

THE SHOCK IS SUBJECT TO EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL TORTURE.

EXTERNAL Element cause the seal to fail.  Small Quantities of oil flow past the seal when it is bad.  You can hardly notice the change until most of the oil is lost.  The shock shaft turns blue from over heating...at this point the it needs rebuilding.

INSIDE the Shock, the bronze piston ring scrapes up against the shock body walls in oil that reaches temperatures of 450 plus.  The bronze and aluminum particles quickly contaminate the shock oil causing oil breakdown.
